Tyrion’s song is set at the moment after he kills shae and his father in king’s landing. I wanted to write a complicated drinking song with a very simple chorus, for this time in his arc where he feels low, small, and dark. His greatest asset, his gift of “talk”, is also something that has damned him. His friends are mercenaries, his family are enemies- and despite all of his potential, he is alone in the world. There’s a lot of joy and sadness in that interminable refrain of “Talk, taaaalk, ta-a-alk”.
