This is a manipulative love song from cersei to her brother Jaime, based on the letter she sends him while she’s in a cell. She sees him as inevitability, someone who has always been a part of her, which allows her to disrespect and abuse him. I wanted to play with his emotions in this song, so i tried to use different registers of my voice as various tactics. “Half” contains all of cersei’s insecurities and wickedness while still being empathetic- i thought about my own experiences in toxic relationships and the unpleasant lessons they taught me about my capacity for badness.
